Muir Woods and Break Time in San Fran

Early this morning we dropped off the dog at the kennel and headed out to Muir Woods National Monument. This was the appetizer round of the Redwoods National Park coming in a few days. We went early again to avoid the crowds and took the easy 2.5 mile round trip hike through the park. Very nice start to the day. After 2 months in an RV with a tiny low pressure shower, we decided to treat ourselves to a break at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco so we headed there next. We arrived at the hotel about 11:30am then got a bight to eat at Aliment where they served the worst fried chicken in recent memory. Lesson learned, only eat fried chicken in the South.

Another item on the bucket list was to eat at a 3 star Michelin rated restaurant which is what brought us to Benu. Rated 47th in the world in 2019, this is one of only a few 3 star Michelin restaurants in California. The meal was very good although I dont think it justified the exorbitant price. You pay quite a bit for stellar service and atmosphere. The only new and unusual dish we had was a lobster stuffed sea cucumber. Im not searching for the recipe. All in all a great overnight. We are in Larkspur for another night. A heat wave will probably keep us in today before heading back to the coast for some cooler temperatures.
