Leg 9 To Marina, CA

After 4 days at Morro Dunes RV park, we had for more sand at Marina Dunes RV Park in Marina, CA. This park is smaller, nicer and more expensive than the last with no real views to speak of. Its about 700 yards to the ocean via some sand dunes. As was Morro Bay, it is quite windy here this afternoon as well and is keeping us at camp. We plan on spending the afternoon figuring out what to do over the next few days. We passed through some beautiful shoreline on our way here to include Big Sur. I had video taped the whole trip via my dash cam, or so I thought. When I checked, there were no videos and showing a memory card error. Go figure. We are planning on back tracking in the jeep one of our days here to get some shots of Big Sur. It was crazy busy today so we will wait for a weekday. Tonight it looks like we are going to compare Tex Mex with some Cali Mex.

RV Park Review: Marina Dunes is a small clean park with back-in only lots. As I recall, it was the only game in town with access to Monterey Bay and Carmel by the Sea when I booked it but I have since learned there are others. This park had easy access to Hwy 1 which is what we were traveling but it is hard to justify the high price. It is a very basic park and near the beach but its a shlep through sand to get there. The town of Marina Dunes is nearby but not typical of the quaint towns that line Hwy 1. It is only a few minutes to Carmel by the Sea, Monterey and to a lesser degree Pinnacles National Park which is about an hour. We camped at Marina Dunes RV Park in a Motorhome.

  1. Tupi mentioned it being busy today and will wait for the weekend to back track and get some videos of Big Sur. This coming weekend is Memorial Day Weekend. Hopefully you don’t get into a lot of traffic.
