Leg 3 Benson, AZ

Today will be one of the longer legs of our trip. We drove from Van Horn, TX to Benson, AZ for a total of about 389 miles. Today’s little jaunt took about 8 1/2 hours to complete. This included a quick stop at Total Wine for some provisions as well as a gas up, lunch and weigh station. We arrived in Benson at about 1530 hours. When trying to unhook the Jeep, we found it would not start. A quick trip to Ace Hardware for a charger then to O’Reillys for a battery and were back in business. Tomorrows plans include a trip to Tombstone and then Bisbee for a little sight seeing. We are staying the Butterfield RV Resort which of the 3, has been the nicest on this trip. They take Passport America so our rate was reduced from 45$ a night to about $22.50 a night. Its your standard cookie cutter site but the are all blacktop and the site is clean and full of amenities. The even have a pickle ball court and an observatory onsite.

This park is pretty good find in Benson Arizona. The park is very clean with paved lots and roads. There is a grocery store and a couple of eateries around the corner. Maintenance was constantly driving through the park to pickup trash and landscape. There was an observatory on-site (Covid-closed during our stay)as well as a nice pickle ball court. Trains are nearby but it did not disturb our sleep. The sites are somewhat elevated and we did drag our jacks a bit leaving. We camped at Butterfield RV Resort & Observatory in a Motorhome.
