Well after a 4 1/2 drive, 9 /12 hour flight, 1 hour line at customs, 1 hour line at the Taxi stand since our pre-ordered ride was AWOL or at least un-locatable, we made it to our abode for the next few days in Madrid, Spain. Although not quite as highly rated as advertised, it’s still a decent enough apartment in the center of the action. Lots if sirens though so may be a bit noisy at night. Not sure if anything will prevent our sleep this evening since we did not get much on the plane. Speaking of plane, I would be hard pressed to recommend Iberia. Their inability to select seats as a non-frequent flyer is seriously a major negative. We had the worst premium economy seats that exist. Center seat of the center row of three and we were in separate rows. As luck would have it the two aisles seats somehow managed to sleep 90% of the journey so my potty breaks were a big ado. Plan is to try and stay up as late as possible to battle jet lag and start exploring in the AM. Fortunately this hotel has a rooftop bar and restaurant so we have plans in the works. For reference, in the pic we are at the turn (both left and right lines are one line) and the taxis are loading at arch there in the distance.
