Today we mark the 1/2 point of our journey. Over 71 hours of driving, 2970 miles and many wonderful memories in our rearview we look forward to more of the same in the coming weeks. Today after breakfast at Wayfarers in Cannon Beach, we took in some sightseeing at the historic Haystack Rock. This is one of the most photographed sites on the Pacific Coast. It is also a shot in many movies including Goonies which apparently was filmed here. We then rode out to Ecola State Park for some more picturesque views and another lighthouse. This one, aptly named the Tillamook Rock lighthouse, is abandoned and on an a rock. It is the feature photo above which was shot with my anniversary gift mentioned in an earlier blog. For dinner we found a very nice Italianish restaurant called the Bistro which had some great “our generation” live music.
