It’s been a great few days in Ft Davis Mountains State Park.  Over the weekend we explored some of the local fare.  A quick trip to Ft Davis to fully experience all that the town has to offer; 15 minutes later we headed to Marfa for some DQ blizzards and fuel.  Like most of the US, we spent Monday watching the Eclipse.  I should have done some more research because the pictures I took did not come out.  Curse that Youtube guy.  Also, the Milky Way photos at 2:00am was not what I had hoped for.  Too much light coming from Alpine, TX prevented the nebulas visibilty.  Did the best I could and enjoyed the howling coyotes and views from atop the mountain.  Tuesday we decided to revisit Marfa and spent some time in the Paisano Hotel which is where the cast of Giant stayed while filming.  They had some interesting photos and memorabilia but the true attraction was the bar.  We also ate at the hotel cafe, Jetts Cafe” for our last night dinner.  Pistachio crusted chicken fried steak and asadero poblano chile rellenó are on the recommend list.
